Margaret LaFontaine, a native of South Georgia, has been a resident of Berea for 7 years.  She is by profession a dance instructor and has worked with children of all ages for over 20 years.

While working in the secretary position for the last 2 years, she has had a variety of interaction with the youth of all ages here at First Christian.  The children at First Christian Church Berea have had the Miss Margaret experience in the nursery, Pre-K Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and just hanging out in the office.

Before working with children at First Christian, Margaret taught Religious Education classes at St. Clare Catholic Church for 4 years.

Miss Margaret can be reached by email at: fccberea@fccberea.org

In addition to enjoying a range of activities throughout the year, including a ski trip, canoeing, and an annual trip to King's Island amusement park in Cincinnati, the youth groups are involved in several local outreach programs.  Additionally, in alternating years the groups work at the Heifer Project farm in Massachusetts and an inner-city project in an urban area.

Each Wednesday evening, following the congregational meal, the K-5 group is involved in a learning and hands-on activity in the Education Building. On Sunday mornings, in addition to Christian Education classes, a special "Children's Church" is offered. At the conclusion of the Children's Moments in worship, which occurs about half way through the worship service, the K-5 group leaves for a period of worship designed especially for them.

The annual Vacation Bible School and Easter Egg Hunt are designed to appeal especially to the K-5 group. This group, too, finds itself involved in service activities. With support from the First Christian Congregation, the group went to Madison County Family Court to provide a year's worth of stuffed animals for children who find themselves in court with their families.
